New Regulation (UE) 2023/1230, on machinery
New draft European Standard prEN 50742 Safety of machinery - Protection against corruption

In December 2025, Technical Committee CLC/TC 44X published the latest version of the draft European Standard prEN 50742 entitled, “Safety of machinery - Protection against corruption”.
This draft European Standard is submitted to CENELEC members for enquiry: deadline for CENELEC is 2026-02-27.
As reported in the Annex ZZ (Informative), the draft standard has been elaborated in support of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 of the European Parliament and of the Council (M/605) to provide one voluntary means of conforming to essential requirements of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2023 on machinery (OJ L 165, 29.6.2023).
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Regulation, compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZZ.1 confers, within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding essential requirements of that Regulation, and associated EFTA regulations.

The corresponding essential requirements according to table ZZ.1 are:

  • Requirement 1.1.9
  • Requirement 1.2.1, 2nd paragraph, letter “a)”
  • Requirement 1.2.1, 2nd paragraph, letter “f)”
